In April 2025, MONTADRIA held a dedicated working meeting with representatives of EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) to discuss the analysis and improvement of the regulatory framework for water-based aircraft operations.

For the first time, the EASA exhibition space at Europe’s largest aviation show was fully dedicated to seaplane operations — a powerful signal that water-based aviation is gaining the attention it deserves.
Inspired in part by our published work, MONTADRIA is proud to be part of the conversation shaping tomorrow’s seaplane regulations. As one of the first operators in Europe with extensive real-world experience — gained through the organization of five international MONTADRIA Seaplane Regattas, involving over 50 seaplanes of various categories, operating across marine environments, river canyons, and mountain lakes — we are proud to contribute practical insights grounded in operational reality.
EASA has expressed clear readiness for cooperation in reviewing and updating protocols and safety parameters for seaplane operations. Our shared goal is to ensure that future frameworks are practical, safe, and scalable — aligned with the rapid development of amphibious aviation.
MONTADRIA is also proud to be one of the active contributors and initiators in the formation of the European Seaplane Association (ESA) — a platform created to bridge the gap between pilots, operators, and regulators. The association aims to facilitate direct dialogue between seaplane professionals and EASA experts, working jointly to build a modern and balanced regulatory environment: one that ensures maximum safety while remaining clear, liberal, and applicable across Europe.
Notably, the EASA booth at AERO 2025 in Friedrichshafen was entirely dedicated to seaplane aviation, inspired in part by our published position on the urgent need to modernize and harmonize outdated regulations.

At MONTADRIA, we believe the future of seaplane aviation in Europe depends not only on aircraft and infrastructure, but also on policy evolution through collaboration. We are proud to help lead that process.
